Jakarta, Jan. 8 -- Indonesia on Wednesday urged its citizens in the Netherlands to stay alert as severe winter weather swept parts of Europe, saying Indonesians were safe so far despite heavy disruption to transport and daily activities.

"There have been no reports of Indonesian citizens significantly affected, apart from public transportation disruptions," the Foreign Ministry's Directorate for Citizen Protection said in a statement issued in Jakarta.

The ministry advised Indonesians to closely follow weather updates from Dutch authorities, limit non-essential travel and immediately contact emergency services by dialing 112 in urgent situations.
