Jakarta, July 25 -- The Indonesian government has stated that it is closely monitoring the escalating conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, particularly regarding the safety and whereabouts of Indonesian citizens residing in both countries.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, speaking at the Presidential Palace on Friday, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ensuring the protection of Indonesian nationals in the two countries.

"We are doing our best to refrain from making political statements in the internal matters of other nations," Hadi said.

He added that the government has prepared various mitigation measures in anticipation of a worst-case scenario.
