Jakarta, Feb. 9 -- Indonesia will use its 2026 chairmanship of the Developing Eight (D-8) group to strengthen Muslim-majority economies and help shield them from global volatility, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Arrmanatha Nasir said on Monday.

He said preparations for the April 15 D-8 Summit in Jakarta were nearing completion, with Indonesia encouraging heads of state to attend in person. Several leaders have given positive signals ahead of formal confirmations.

"Through D-8, we want to reinforce the economic role of Muslim-majority countries so they can better weather an unstable global economic environment," Arrmanatha told reporters in Jakarta.
