Jakarta, May 26 -- Indonesia will conduct a comprehensive study before ratifying the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 (Convention 188), according to Minister of Manpower Yassierli.

In an official statement issued on Monday, the minister emphasized that the convention is essential to enhance protections for fishing vessel crew members.

"Convention 188 focuses on the safety, health, and overall protection of workers in the fisheries sector. A thorough study and coordination among ministries and agencies are necessary," Yassierli said.
