Jakarta, Feb. 5 -- Indonesia's inclusion in the Board of Peace (BoP), initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump, will position the country as a balancing power among major players in the organization, according to a former Indonesian foreign minister.

Hassan Wirajuda, Indonesia's foreign minister from 2001 to 2009, explained that the country decided to join the BoP following a series of consultations with partners on the sidelines of the last UN General Assembly session, as well as separate consultations with seven Muslim-majority countries.
