Jakarta, Feb. 5 -- Indonesia is preparing state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL Indonesia to become a holding company for government-owned shipyards, a move aimed at consolidating the national maritime industry and strengthening capacity across naval, commercial and offshore vessel production.
Chief Executive Officer Kaharuddin Djenod said that studies on the proposed holding structure are underway at Danantara. The body oversees consolidation of strategic state-owned enterprises and sets governance frameworks and timelines.
"Danantara is consolidating the state-owned shipbuilding industry and has instructed PT PAL to act as the parent," Kaharuddin said after a maritime industry forum in Jakarta on Thursday, adding details remain under review ...
