Jakarta, Nov. 13 -- Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that the production of Indonesia's national car will start in 2027, with the national defense equipment manufacturer, Pindad, appointed as the project's developer.
"We are projecting national car production to start in 2027," he confirmed here on Thursday.
Kartasasmita affirmed that he had held detailed discussions with Pindad, covering the type of vehicle to be produced, the technology to be used in the manufacturing process, the pricing strategy, marketing strategy, and after-sales service.
"These strategic discussions are aimed at preparing for and realizing the President's directive for Indonesia to have its own national car as soon as possible," he remarked.
