Jakarta, June 23 -- The Indonesian government plans to involve cooperatives established under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program in its initiative to renovate two million homes by December 2025.

"We intend to empower Red and White Village Cooperatives so they can contribute to the housing renovation program as suppliers of construction materials," Deputy Minister of Housing and Human Settlements Fahri Hamzah said on Monday.

He noted that the government has allocated Rp43.6 trillion (over US$2.6 billion) for the initiative, with each home renovation receiving Rp21.8 million in funding.
