Serang, Sept. 21 -- Indonesian Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stressed that all managers of industrial, commercial, and tourism areas must manage their own waste to help meet Indonesia's 2029 waste-management target.
He delivered the directive at the 2025 World Cleanup Day commemoration held in Serang District, Banten, on Saturday.
"The governor must require all owners of industrial, tourist, and commercial areas to manage their own waste, and not entrust it to regents or mayors," Nurofiq said.
He explained that the policy is part of a national waste-management transformation, encouraging provincial governors to act fully as regulators.
