Jakarta, Feb. 4 -- The Indonesian government aims to finalize the establishment of a state agency dedicated to personal data protection (PDP) within this year.

Director General of Digital Space Monitoring at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Alexander Sabar, confirmed that the process is underway, with a presidential regulation on the PDP agency currently being drafted.

"This step is a follow-up to the Personal Data Protection Law, which mandates the establishment of an agency responsible for protecting personal data," he said during a meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
