Jakarta, Dec. 25 -- The Indonesian government has tasked state-owned enterprises (SOEs) with building 15,000 homes for residents displaced by floods and landslides in Sumatra, Head of the SOE Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria stated.

"Our target is to complete 500 housing units within the first week after SOEs received the instruction to construct 15,000 residences this month," he noted in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta on Wednesday night (December 24), reaffirming that SOEs remain committed to supporting ongoing disaster response efforts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
