Jakarta, Aug. 6 -- The Indonesian government has increased the number of schools targeted for revitalization and renovation this year from 10,440 to 13,763, allocating Rp16.9 trillion (around US$1.03 billion) for the program.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti said on Wednesday that the revitalization is currently underway with strong governance and active community participation. The program has created 422,981 jobs for local workers, with each school managing the construction work directly, he added.
