Jakarta, Feb. 3 -- The Indonesian government is targeting full operation of the national carbon market by late June 2026, with large-scale transactions expected to begin the following month.
President Prabowo Subianto's special envoy for climate and energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, said the timeline aligns with Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 on Carbon Economic Value Instruments and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control.
"The presidential regulation governing and establishing the carbon market can be seen as a game changer," he said at the ESG Sustainability Forum 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday.
