Jakarta, May 4 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital suspended the operation permit of Worldcoin cryptocurrency and its World ID system following public complaints about its activities.
"The suspension is our preventive measure to mitigate its risks to the public," Alexander Sabar, the ministry's director general for digital supervision, stated in the ministry's press statement received here Sunday.
The ministry will then summon its local operators, PT Terang Bulan Abadi and PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara, to clarify their operations due to potential violations of Indonesia's electronic system regulations in Worldcoin and World ID activities.
