Jakarta, Oct. 21 -- Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan announced that Indonesia is no longer reliant on rice imports after achieving a production surplus in the first year of President Prabowo Subianto's administration.

"Last year, we imported 4.52 million tons of rice. This year - zero. Our rice production has grown by 12.4 percent and is projected to reach 34 million tons," Hasan said during the ministry's town hall meeting here on Tuesday.
