Cilegon, Banten, Dec. 22 -- Indonesia is stepping up mitigation measures against extreme weather to ensure safe travel during the Christmas and year-end holiday period, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno said on Monday.

"All preparations have been carried out thoroughly, including weather-related anticipatory measures, as we are currently facing unusually wet conditions," Pratikno said after inspecting service readiness at Merak Port in Cilegon, Banten Province.

He said authorities are addressing multiple challenges, including cyclone activity affecting three provinces, ongoing post-disaster recovery efforts in several regions, and forecasts of rough weather along southern coastal areas.
