Jakarta, July 17 -- The Indonesian government has pledged to complete the certification of 129,000 transmigration land plots in the near future.

Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said on Thursday that resolving long-standing land rights issues for transmigrants remains a top priority for his ministry.

"The Ministry of Transmigration has many tasks to complete, even if they stem from past programs. We don't view them as a burden, but as a moral responsibility," he stated.

He noted that hundreds of thousands of plots are experiencing overlapping claims, largely due to changes in land status, particularly areas that were later designated as forest zones after transmigrants had already settled there.
