Jakarta, Oct. 22 -- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that he had discussed efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and promote a just and lasting peace for the Palestinian people with President Prabowo Subianto.

"We exchanged views on efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and secure a just and lasting peace that realizes the aspiration of the Palestinian people for self-determination," he remarked in a joint statement with President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace.
