Jakarta, Dec. 4 -- Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak stated that the Indonesian government has set a special quota of 5 percent for elderly Hajj pilgrims in every province for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
"It is 5 percent for each province, so 5 percent of the quota in every province must be allocated for older adults," he said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, the policy is being implemented to ensure that the older adults aged 65 years and above receive priority to depart for the pilgrimage.
Simanjuntak further said that Hajj pilgrims in the elderly group will be sorted by age, prioritizing the oldest first until the 5 percent quota is filled.
