Banda Aceh, Dec. 30 -- Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has distributed around 1,000 power generators with capacities ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 volt-amperes (VA) to 224 disaster-affected and off-grid villages in Aceh.

Spokesperson for Aceh's Flood and Landslide Handling Post, Murthalamuddin, said in Banda Aceh on Tuesday that villages which electricity supply was cut off by the disaster, as well as those not yet connected to the state electricity company PLN, are being prioritized for the generator distribution.

The generators are being deployed to and distributed from evacuation shelters that currently lack electricity. Each unit can supply power to one shelter and around 10 nearby houses, he explained.
