Jakarta, Aug. 5 -- Indonesia is hoping to deliver humanitarian aid, including 10 thousand tons of rice, to the Gaza Strip by the land route, instead of an airdrop, Foreign Minister Sugiono has said.

"We hope no airdrop. We hope (the border gate for) aid distribution will be opened soon. We understand that air airdrop has many risks," the minister explained after receiving Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov at the ministry's office here on Tuesday.

He said that airdropping aid could endanger Palestinians in Gaza who are in urgent need of the assistance. "The process also has many technical matters that must be addressed," he added.
