Jakarta, May 2 -- Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Abdul Kadir Karding expressed hope here on Friday that Indonesian migrant workers will be prosperous and protected as the world marked International Workers' Day on May 1.

Karding made this statement while accompanying President Prabowo Subianto at the International Workers' Day celebration at the National Monument (Monas) Square on Thursday (May 1).

"Workers received many 'gifts' from the president. For example, discussions about the Domestic Workers Bill are promised to proceed more quickly," he stated in the ministry's press release.
