Jakarta, Dec. 25 -- Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited Tawang Station in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday to inspect service readiness ahead of an expected surge in travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Citing data from the Ministry of Transportation, Gibran said year-end holiday travel is projected to increase by 2.71 percent compared to last year.
"As many as 20.3 million people are predicted to travel to Central Java during the holiday period," he said in a statement.
During the inspection, he urged all stakeholders to maximize service quality and ensure safety and security during year-end travel.
