Jakarta, Nov. 8 -- Indonesia's Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has called for strict supervision of the Jragung Dam construction in Semarang District, Central Java, to strengthen food and energy security.
He inspected the dam project on Friday, which has reached 89.3 percent completion, according to a statement received on Saturday.
"We can expect this dam to be completed by next year. I ask all relevant stakeholders, including ministries and local governments, to closely oversee this project, as it is vital for food and energy security," he said.
Gibran said the Jragung Dam is also expected to help mitigate flooding in parts of Semarang and nearby areas.
