Bogor, June 24 -- The Free Nutritious Meals program's dedicated kitchens-officially called Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs)-can strengthen Indonesia's food security and economy by sourcing commodities directly from rural farmers, the National Food Agency (Bapanas) stated.
"These kitchens help create a supportive ecosystem for farmers and ranchers," Bapanas Head Arief Prasetyo Adi said during a visit to an SPPG in Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday.
He stressed the importance of all SPPGs procuring food such as fruit, meat, and eggs from local producers in their respective regions.
Adi noted that the program not only improves nutrition but also raises living standards for rural communities.
