Jakarta, Aug. 29 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has conveyed condolences over the death of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver killed after being struck by a police tactical vehicle during a protest in Jakarta on Thursday night.

"On behalf of myself and the government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my deepest condolences," he said in a video statement on Friday.

Prabowo said he had been closely monitoring developments as protests around the Parliamentary Complex reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the House of Representatives (DPR). He admitted being deeply shaken by the tragedy and assured that the government would provide support to Kurniawan's family.
