Jakarta, Nov. 25 -- Indonesia's Navy (TNI-AL) plans to deploy about 5,000 personnel as part of a proposed 20,000-strong peacekeeping force for the Gaza Strip, a senior naval official said on Tuesday.
TNI-AL Information Service head Rear Admiral Tunggul said the Navy is preparing roughly 25 percent of the personnel requested for the mission.
He said selected personnel must have medical and construction engineering expertise to support humanitarian operations, treat civilian war victims, and build temporary facilities in Gaza. The internal selection process remains underway.
