Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Indonesia's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) secured fixed and potential overseas transactions worth USD90.9 million or Rp1.49 trillion in the January-August period, the trade ministry said on Monday, as it ramps up efforts to link domestic firms with global buyers.
"This achievement proves that when our MSMEs receive proper mentoring and are guided to meet global buyers, they can compete with major business players," Trade Minister Budi Santoso said in a statement.
The ministry, through its export-oriented program, has supported 110 MSMEs in sectors such as fashion, crafts, furniture, home decor, food and beverages, and spices, helping them expand into international markets.
