Jakarta, Dec. 13 -- The Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) has distributed 15 thousand packages of aid to meet the basic needs of residents affected by major floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces.

In a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani pointed out that each province has received five thousand aid packages consisting of staple commodities such as milk, sugar, coffee, instant noodles, cooking oil, biscuits, and medicines.

He added that the assistance also included baby diapers, sanitary napkins, cajuput oil, and balm, noting that in Aceh, 2,000 packages were allocated to North Aceh District, 2,000 to Aceh Tamiang District, and 1,000 to East Aceh District.
