Jakarta, March 21 -- The Deputy Speaker of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Lestari Moerdijat, has emphasized the need to improve the fulfillment of the basic rights of people with disabilities as part of the government's obligation to protect its citizens.
In a statement received on Friday, she noted that people living with disabilities still face difficulties in meeting their basic needs, such as education, healthcare, and employment. Therefore, joint efforts are needed to ensure their rights.
According to Moerdijat, efforts to ensure the basic rights of people with disabilities must be backed by concrete support from relevant parties.
