Jakarta, Nov. 4 -- Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono said the country's participation in Gaza's reconstruction and peacekeeping efforts will depend on an international mandate ensuring full legitimacy.
Speaking at a ministerial meeting on Palestine in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Monday (Nov. 3), Sugiono stressed that international approval is essential for any steps toward peace in Gaza.
"We support concrete steps for peace, but they must be carried out under an official mandate from the United Nations or other recognized mechanisms," he said, according to a Foreign Ministry statement issued Tuesday.
He emphasized that a clear mandate is vital to guarantee legitimacy and effective implementation of peace initiatives.
