Jakarta, July 11 -- Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that food security should continue to be the focus of ASEAN Plus Three (APT), especially in light of increasing food-related threats and the ongoing global crisis.
The minister cited recent reports from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), which warn of acute food insecurity in several regions.
"Indonesia supports strengthening the APT Emergency Rice Reserve, not only for emergency distribution but also as a strategic platform to promote sustainable agriculture and improve supply chain coordination," Sugiono stated during the APT Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday (July 10).
