Jakarta, July 4 -- Speaker of Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, has called on tourism stakeholders to prioritize visitor safety in order to maintain the country's reputation as a safe travel destination.
Her statement, issued in a press release on Friday, came in response to the recent death of a Brazilian hiker who fell into a ravine while trekking Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara.
"The safety of tourists must be prioritized - not only to save lives but also to maintain Indonesia's reputation as a professional and safe tourist destination," Maharani said.
