Jakarta, Feb. 12 -- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the budget for earthquake and tsunami mitigation will be maintained despite the government's budget efficiency policy.

BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati conveyed this during a budget efficiency hearing with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"Our budget for earthquake and tsunami mitigation is Rp41.9 billion, and it will remain unchanged, including funds for earthquake field school activities," Karnawati said.

She added that other public service budgets, such as the Rp70 million allocation for BMKG's climate information service, will also be preserved.
