Jakarta, March 16 -- Indonesia's National Alms Agency (Baznas) is carrying out a program to educate students and teachers in 310 schools across Indonesia about disaster mitigation.

The Head of Baznas' Distribution and Utilization Division, Saidah Sakwan, stated on Sunday that the "Baznas Disaster Response (BTB) Goes to School during Ramadan" program is a concrete step to raise awareness and preparedness in society regarding disasters, particularly among students who receive alms assistance.

"Indonesia is a country vulnerable to various types of disasters. Therefore, early education on disaster mitigation is vital so that the younger generation has a good understanding of how to deal with emergency situations," she said.
