Jakarta, Nov. 10 -- The Indonesian government confirmed on Monday that the 10 individuals named 2025 National Heroes were selected from community proposals submitted at the regional level.

Culture Minister Fadli Zon, who also chairs the Council for Titles, Medals, and Honors, said the proposed names originated from grassroots communities through district or city channels before being reviewed by regional research and title assessment teams.

He explained that proposals are first evaluated at the district and city levels by local scholars and community, religious, and cultural leaders. The findings are then forwarded to the provincial team before reaching the central committee under the Ministry of Social Affairs.
