Probolinggo, E Java, Jan. 30 -- The Probolinggo district government in East Java has assisted the repatriation of a nine-month-old Indonesian baby girl abandoned in Malaysia after being left by her migrant worker parents, local officials said.

The infant, identified as SA and known to have relatives in Probolinggo, was abandoned at a hospital in Johor while receiving treatment for a lung illness, authorities said.

"Through cross-sector coordination, the repatriation was carried out safely and smoothly," Probolinggo Manpower Agency Head Saniwar said on Thursday, adding the handover took place at the district manpower office.
