Jakarta, Feb. 1 -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs has provided Rp596 million (approximately US$35,500) in aid to support the recovery of madrasahs (Islamic schools), teachers, and students affected by a landslide and flooding in Cisarua Sub-district, West Bandung, West Java.

Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday that madrasahs play a strategic role not only as educational institutions but also as centers for community service and humanitarian response.

He emphasized that restoring madrasahs and safeguarding the welfare of teachers must be a shared priority to ensure that teaching and learning activities can resume normally.
