Jakarta, Dec. 5 -- The Forestry Ministry is still investigating the origin and status of the logs swept away by the floods, where it has identified companies suspected of being responsible for the disaster in Sumatra.

"We have already identified potential legal entities involved," Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni spoke to reporters after a meeting with National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in Jakarta on Thursday (December 4).

His team is still tracing the origin of the logs, including the possibility of their origin from illegal logging, timber accumulated during land clearing for oil-palm plantations or mining, or from Land Rights Holders (PHAT).
