Jakarta, May 4 -- The Indonesian government is prioritizing the use of domestic spices in catering services for Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, according to Muchlis M Hanafi, the Religious Affairs Ministry's Director of Overseas Hajj Services.
"We are prioritizing domestic products for our spice ingredient needs, totaling 611 tons, of which 475 tons are supplied from Indonesia," Hanafi stated during a virtual press conference on the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage implementation in Jakarta on Sunday.
He mentioned that during their stay in Saudi Arabia, each Hajj pilgrim will be provided with 127 meals, bringing the total food provisions for this year's pilgrimage to 25.8 million meal boxes.
