Jakarta, Feb. 6 -- The Indonesian government is planning to transfer Reynhard Sinaga, an Indonesian national serving a life sentence in the United Kingdom for multiple counts of sexual assault, to Nusakambangan prison if his extradition request is approved.

"This individual must be placed in the only prison with the highest level of security, which is Nusakambangan. Otherwise, he could pose further risks," Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, said in Jakarta on Thursday.

He confirmed that his team has initiated preliminary discussions with the British government regarding Indonesia's request for Sinaga's repatriation.
