Jakarta, May 30 -- The Indonesian government plans to develop submarine optical cable-based technology to improve the accuracy and coverage of the national tsunami early warning system, especially for those triggered by seismic activity in the megathrust zone.
This initiative is part of an innovative collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Telkom Indonesia and will be integrated with the tsunami early warning system of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
