Nusa Dua, Bali, June 22 -- The Indonesian government is partnering with Russia to accelerate the development of sports in the country, particularly fencing, which is seen as having strong potential to achieve international success.

"We are very ambitious about Indonesian fencing," said Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo on Sunday, during the final day of the 2025 Asian Fencing Championships in Nusa Dua, Badung District, Bali.

According to Dito, the partnership was formalized during President Prabowo Subianto's recent state visit to Russia, a visit on which he accompanied the President. "This collaboration is a concrete outcome from the trip," he said.
