Jakarta, Feb. 10 -- Indonesia's chairmanship of the Developing Eight (D-8) group is centered on five priority agendas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday, highlighting efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states while advancing organizational reform.

Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela explained that four of the priorities focus on economic cooperation, while the fifth addresses institutional restructuring.

"We want to increase this potential through D-8 cooperation," he said, pointing first to trade as a key driver, given the demographic strength of the bloc's members.

The second priority involves expanding the halal economy, reflecting the predominantly Muslim populations of D-8 countries.
