Jakarta, July 9 -- Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Haryo Limanseto, said he is confident that Indonesia will manage to negotiate an import tariff reduction with the United States.
According to Limanseto, the Indonesian negotiation team has submitted all necessary documents, drawing praise from its US counterpart and setting an example for other countries.
"However, the decision lies within President Donald Trump. For us, we are not done yet. The US letter stated that the tariffs will be implemented in August (2025)," he said at a media briefing on Wednesday.
Earlier, President Trump decided to stick to the 32-percent import tariff on Indonesia, first announced in April, despite ongoing negotiations.
