Jakarta, May 16 -- Foreign Minister Sugiono signaled that Indonesia is prepared to serve as a mediator for peace to help end the conflict between India and Pakistan if requested.
"The 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia mandates us to actively promote world peace," Sugiono noted in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
He emphasized that any steps taken must align with the Constitution.
"If we are requested to do anything that aims to create global peace, we will actively participate. That's it," Sugiono stated in response to a question regarding the possibility of Indonesia acting as a mediator between India and Pakistan.
