Jakarta, July 18 -- The Indonesian government is trying to negotiate a zero percent import tariff deal for key commodities with the United States (US) government.

Despite the 19 percent reciprocal tariff announcement, there is still room for negotiation, especially for commodities in high demand in the US, secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, said.

"President Prabowo Subianto has announced that our reciprocal tariff with the US is finalized at 19 percent. However, there is still room for negotiation, especially for our commodity products needed by the US. We are negotiating to achieve a zero percent tariff," he informed on Friday.
