Jakarta, March 12 -- The Indonesian government is committed to restoring the functionality of headwater areas, particularly in Bogor and Bekasi, West Java, to mitigate future flooding, Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq emphasized.
The minister stated that the government is identifying and mapping structures that violate regulations.
"It is crucial that we rehabilitate all headwater areas, including those in Bekasi and Sentul (Bogor)," he told the press at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 11).
Nurofiq noted that the government has initially targeted around 30 structures in the Puncak region of Bogor for demolition, though the number could increase as data collection continues.
