Jakarta, Nov. 7 -- An Indonesian law official has stressed the need to establish clear rules on the use and trade of kratom leaves and their derivative products.
Speaking at a coordination meeting on kratom export regulations in Jakarta on Thursday, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Otto Hasibuan said the plant offers strong economic potential but lacks legal clarity.
"I believe it is crucial that all parties here can reach an agreement on the legal status of kratom to avoid misunderstandings," Hasibuan said, according to a statement issued on Friday.
