Jakarta, Dec. 6 -- Indonesia plans to place human rights at the core of national development, Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai said ahead of next week's National Human Rights Development Planning Conference.

According to a statement received here Saturday, Pigai said the goal is to embed human rights principles into all central and regional development policies through the three-day national forum.

The conference will bring together ministries, agencies and local governments to exchange views and identify ways to align development strategies with human rights standards, he said.

"We believe it is essential to create a forum involving multiple stakeholders to craft strategic and technocratic plans on human rights," Pigai said.
